2008 APSB Victoria
Pony of the Year

Pony of the Year Promo Photo

Introduction

This concept has been developed to encourage competitors to support their regional and breed promotional group shows.

At this stage, we are aiming to have a Junior, Senior and Saddle class in the following sections.

Australian
Connemara
Dartmoor
Fjord
Hackney
Highland
New Forest
Shetland
Welsh
Part Bred
APSB Riding Pony

For the Hackney, the saddle section will be replaced by harness.

It is hoped that there will be enough entries in each of the sections to run the junior, senior and saddle for each breed under the APSB banner.  If it is found that there are limited entries in particular breed sections, then some of the breeds may be combined.

This breed showcase will be held on the Saturday evening at the 2009 Stud Show, allowing for those not competing to watch whilst enjoying the barbeque and entertainment provided.

To be eligible to enter, you must have placed (first, second or third) at any of the promotional group shows during the 2008 year.  It is hoped to continue this event into 2009 where a full list of shows will be available for competitors .

Qualifying Shows

Any show held by one of the following promotional groups will be a qualifying show for this event.

Results will be collated from each event held by the promotional groups so that it is clear which horses and ponies are eligible to enter.

Rules

·         Any Promotional Group that runs a show with APSB Breed classes is eligible.  Ponies must place in their particular breed class at one of these shows to be eligible to enter into their appropriate class at the final.

·         Only one placing at a promotional group show is required for entry.

 ·         Ponies must enter to be eligible to compete in the final.  The final will be held at the APSB Victorian Stud Show in January 2009.

·         All ponies entered will be given a set workout to complete prior to attending the event.  This will be the case in both led, saddle and harness classes.  The workout may be different for each breed to ensure that each breed showcases its individual talents.

·         Classes will only be run if there are a minimum of 6 ponies entered.  If there are less than 6 ponies, classes or breeds may be combined.  For example a Mountain and Moreland section instead of individual sections for Connemara and Fjords.

·         Junior ponies are those 3 years and under

·         Senior ponies are 4 years and over

·         Saddle ponies must be at least 3 years of age to compete in the saddle section.
